The new TRBC Studio was designed as a space with a whole lot of heart and an effort was made to synergise the ethos of our design practice with the space it inhabits. Clean lines, big texture and contemporary materials were made to contrast against details that deliver finesse, right down to the furniture, matte black accessories and the bathroom design. Natural light pours into the heart of the studio with a precisely located skylight above a deep divan, and the roof is finished in an in-situ waxed cement plaster, which serves as a binding element across the spaces. The staircase volume connecting the upper and lower studio consists of a self-supporting, folded plate metal sheet with precisely calculated perforations for aesthetic effect. This is finished off with glass railings hemmed in with black metal bands. The whole look is softened with solid wood elements that run the length and breadth of the modest but inspiring nerve center of TRBC.
